Niochori, the Rhodians' favourite neighbourhood

Niochori is our favourite corner of Rhodes, and the one we want to share. A neighbourhood that's alive all year round, not just in summer. With its cafés, its tavernas, its family-run grocery shops, its pedestrian lanes. Far from the bustle of the tourist resorts, yet just a few minutes' walk from everything that makes Rhodes memorable.

The old town, a Unesco heritage site

The old town of Rhodes — its historic ramparts, its castle evoking the era of the Knights of the Order of Malta, its cobbled lanes, its shops, bars and restaurants — is worth a trip to Rhodes in itself. From the Amboise Gate, it's less than a ten-minute walk from our house.

Elli Beach and its diving platform

Elli Beach is less than a ten-minute walk from the house. This is where we swim most of the time. Will you dare to jump from the highest platform? After swimming and sunbathing, we rarely resist the pleasure of a small dish or a meal at the Meltemi restaurant right on the beach. And the wonderful thing is that two other beaches, just as close, are also within walking distance from the house.

Greek cuisine and the art of friendship

This is one of the Rhodians' favourite neighbourhoods, but also one for visitors in summer, to eat and share a drink. For Greeks, getting together with friends is truly part of what matters most. We'll share all our favourite addresses with you, including our bakery and our grocer, both just steps from the house.

Where two seas meet

Niochori's location is exceptional: we're at the northern tip of the island, where the Aegean Sea meets the Libyan Sea. Two spots less than ten minutes from the house let you watch the sun rise over one sea and set over the other. It's one of the rare places in the world that offers this on foot.

Lindos

L’île de Chalki

Discovering the rest of Rhodes, and the nearby islands too

Niochori and the town of Rhodes can easily fill a whole week. But the island is also worth exploring beyond, for a day trip.

To the south, Lindos and its white acropolis overlook the coast. The Valley of the Butterflies offers a shaded retreat in summer. Further still, Prasonisi is the realm of windsurfers and kitesurfers. And for those who love quieter landscapes, there are the mountain villages, the castles of Kritinia and Monolithos, or the seven springs near Epta Piges.

Facing Rhodes, Symi and Chalki can be reached by boat for a day trip. Two small islands with colourful houses, perfect for a refreshing change of scenery.

La Vallée des Papillons

What if you experienced Rhodes outside summer?

Rhodes is not just about summer. Spring offers mild days, the island in bloom, few crowds. Autumn extends the Mediterranean summer into November. And even winter has its charm, for those who want to discover real local life without the crowds. Our house is open all year round. Thanks to the reversible air conditioning and fast wifi, even working remotely from here becomes a tempting option.
