The House & Us

The story of a house we hold dear, and that we share.

A family story

We are Christos and Ariane, a Greek-Belgian couple. Christos was born to a Rhodian mother and spent every childhood summer on the island. The family village was a little further out than the town, but it was the spirit of Rhodes that left its mark on his heart: the old town, the beaches, the lively lanes.

Ariane fell in love with Greece later. But with the same intensity. Year after year, our family summers in Rhodes became a given.

Choosing Niochori

When we decided to buy our own house on the island, the choice of neighbourhood came naturally. Niochori is where we already spent so much of our time each summer. A neighbourhood alive all year round, a ten-minute walk from the old town, close to several beaches.

But what makes this corner of Rhodes truly singular is its geography: we're at the northern tip of the island, where two seas meet. Less than ten minutes from the house, two spots let you watch the sun rise over one sea and set over the other. Few places offer this.

No stress about popping back for something for the little ones. Our older daughters can walk to the bars they love, in complete safety. Our favourite restaurants, bakeries and grocery shops are all within walking distance. And the street itself is almost a miracle: right in the heart of the lively neighbourhood, yet pedestrian and very quiet.

The house, as we live it

We restored this house with care. The décor blends objects found locally with family heirlooms — including a few old frames on the walls, like the one bringing together several generations of Rhodians from our family. The kitchen is equipped with particular care — Christos loves to cook there with our son, and we wanted it to let others do the same.

Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's the space we needed to welcome our children, their friends, their loves. It's also the space we make available to travellers who come to live Rhodes in their turn.

Welcoming you

This house is not just another place to stay. It's ours, and we care about it. Every review left after a stay touches us deeply — and that's what makes us want to keep sharing it.
